"Don't Ever Hit Your Mother With a Shovel"

On a Butch Cassidy and Sundance related note;

For those of you interested, I was intending to visit the actual Hole in the Wall where Butch Cassidy and the Hole in the Wall Gang hung out. Just requires a 4x4 vehicle. Which is not at my disposal right now.

You ought to rent a horse and ride the Outlaw Trail! Back in '82, the Park Service mapped a segment of it that no 4x4 could reach (above where the Green and the Yampa meet.) I was along for the ride! My great uncle showed the trail to the rangers; he drove cattle there as a child.

(You wouldn't happen to be one of my cousins, would you?)

Our family made it to nearby the hole in the wall in 1973. That is when the town of Wall SD was a real decent tourist trap. I stopped in there last year, and all of the fun was gone. I do love to travel in your country, and I love the American people.

How'd you burn your right leg?

Double laced the right hiking boot because the laces were too long.

One of the loops gets caught in jagged branch on the ground on my ascent.

Laces don't give since they're double tied, trapping the branch in between my two legs.

On the way down, I say to myself, "It's alright, enough pine needles have fallen on this forest floor that it will cushion my fall, just like it has the past 100 times!"

Jagged rock underneath the pine needles pierces me right below the right knee cap.

Hobble up hill

Hobble down hill.

BUT! 2 days later I bushwhack my way through to Spearfish Peak (only to find out there was a trail).

Still hurts, but it won't knock me out.

Hi Suz,

Could be, is our last name Clarey?

Nope. I hail from the Chew bunch. Great Grandpa Jack was pretty-much raised by Tom McCarty.
